In this article, let’s discuss the difference between SCWCD 1.4 (CX-310-081) and SCWCD 1.5 (CX-310-083) which is also known as SCWCD 5.0. First, go through this post by Bryan Basham at JavaRanch. He was a part of SCWCD 5 exam objectives preparation team, and he is the author of Head First Servlets and JSP book for SCWCD 5.
Here is the summary from Bryan’s post:
- There is no Objective difference between both versions of the exams.
- The new exam (SCWCD 5) is still based on J2EE 1.4 version (with Servlet 2.4 and JSP 2.0). The new topic added or updated are: JSTL tag, dynamic attributes, and a little more on the SingleThreadModel
- SCWCD 5 exam does not have any JSF related questions, but SCWCD 6 will have.
- SCWCD 5 exam has performance based question unlike the theoretical SCWCD 1.4 exam.
Since there is no difference between objectives, the candidates can practice the SCWCD 1.4 mock exams for SCWCD 5 also. As it was mentioned in the earlier post, please check for the updated version of Head First Servlets and JSP book for SCWCD 5.
Many people confuse by reading different books and different topics. My advice would be you have just stick to the exam objectives – no matter whatever the book you read and whatever the study notes you follow.
