Firefox 2 is yet to die sooner. Mozilla has recently announced that the FireFox 2 will meet the End of Life (EOL) by December 2008, and it will no more support the version. This move will encourage the people to switch over to higher version of FireFox (3.0 and above) in future.

The nightly builds for FireFox 3.1 are available. The download link is (for windows 32 and 64 bits, linux, ): http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/

If you have Windows-32 bit or Windows-64 bit, then you can either download firefox-3.1b2pre.en-US.win32.installer.exe or firefox-3.1b2pre.en-US.win32.zip .

For installing this version of Firefox, you do not need Administrator privilege in windows. But remember, a lot of Plugins may stop working in the newer version of Firefox. I was greatly disappointed when Alexa plugins stopped working in FireFox 3.1 Beta.

Features:

The major highlight feature of FireFox 3.1 is Tear Tabs (tearing off the tabs), similar to that of Google Chrome and Apple’s Safari browsers. Tear off feature lets a tab to be separated from main FireFox window, and then it becomes an individual Window. There is an option to preview the tab, you are about tear off.

Also it comes with improved JavaScript, and CSS 2.1, CSS 3 properties support.
